PRIVATE EVENTS IN THE ACORN BARN
Tucked just across the courtyard from our main winery and tasting room, the Acorn Barn offers something rare: a private, character-filled venue with the full charm of Modales Winery and none of the foot traffic. As our original tasting room, the Acorn Barn carries the history of where Modales began — wood-warmed walls, a sense of intimacy you simply can’t find in a larger banquet space, and a setting that feels uniquely ours.
It’s the kind of room that lends itself naturally to celebrations that matter: rehearsal dinners, milestone birthdays, anniversary parties, bridal and baby showers, corporate retreats, holiday gatherings, memorial luncheons, and the dozens of in-between moments that deserve a special location.
CAPACITY AND CONFIGURATION
The Acorn Barn comfortably accommodates up to 40 guests for a seated, plated dinner or family-style meal, and up to 70 guests for a standing, cocktail-style reception with passed bites or stations. That flexibility makes it equally suited to a long-table wedding rehearsal as it is to a livelier mingling event. Private restrooms are located inside the barn itself, so your guests never have to leave the space — a small detail that makes a real difference on busy weekend evenings when our main tasting room is in full swing.
The Outdoor Courtyard and Crush Pad
Weather and wine making schedule permitting, your event can spill out onto the cement courtyard adjoining the barn — the same crush pad where our grapes are pressed during harvest. It’s a working space that doubles beautifully as a social one, giving guests room to wander, sip, and take in the surroundings of a real Michigan winery. During harvest season (typically late summer through fall), this area may be in active use for production, so we’ll work with you on what’s available for your date.
